“To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life”
—Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
About me
Hello! My name is Ben Katz, and I am an amateur black and white film photographer based in Providence, RI. I’m also a medical student at Brown University, with a deep interest in the intersection of photography and medicine as a means to uplift the voices of underserved communities.
My photography journey began during the pandemic, when I discovered my dad’s old film cameras in storage. Since then, I’ve been hooked. I typically shoot with a Nikon F1 or a Mamiya RB67, depending on the format. My work spans street, portrait, documentary, and travel photography.
